WHAT IS AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT?

PTSA volunteers organize afterschool enrichment classes as a service to the parents and students at Rosa Parks Elementary. PTSA partners with local vendors and Rosa Parks teachers to offer before and after-school programs. We do this as a service to the school community. For these local vendor programs, registration fees are paid to our vendors except for $1 which goes to PTSA to cover administrative costs.

Here's how it works: Register your child for a class. All classes are held right at Rosa Parks.  After school is dismissed, your student need only walk over to the space (commons, gym, or Art Room) where their enrichment class is offered. The class will be run by a professional instructor in their field. In addition, there will be a parent volunteer chaperoning the class to make sure your student is safe and happy until you pick them up. If your child does not show up to a class for which they are registered, we will contact you immediately by calling the phone number you have provided. Please be aware the call will likely come from a volunteer’s number that is unknown to you.

Students will go directly from their classroom to the space where the program will take place, to sign up with the program's chaperone.  Each program has a minimum number of students who must enroll for the program to run. There is also a maximum number of students that may enroll in each program.

There are no refunds for before and after school programs. The only exception is if a program does not enroll the minimum number of students, a full refund will be given. Refunds will not be offered for classes within a session that must be canceled due to LWSD closure (weather, etc.) or lack of a chaperone.

CLASS CHAPERONES

All clubs must have an adult family member as a chaperon who will be on-site throughout the entire session, signing students in (and contacting the office/family if a child is absent), and signing the students out.

Chaperones must be Rosa Parks PTSA members and be LWSD-approved volunteers. You can read more on how to register on the Volunteering in LWSD page on the LWSD website.

Please review Chaperone Instructions.

Sign up to chaperone a class and get free tuition. Contact us at programs@rosaparksptsa.org if you would like to chaperone all the dates in the session, and we'll refund the program fees*!

*Available for select programs

If there is no available volunteer for a session, that session will need to be canceled.

FINANCIAL AID

We don't want anyone missing out on after-school classes. Rosa Parks PTSA offers scholarships as well as membership subsidies to help with these expenses to those that qualify. Funding is limited. Please, contact the school counselor, Euki Hirano, for more information at ehirano@lwsd.org.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR PARENTS

Please read the After School Programs Policies thoroughly before registering for a program.  Please review and learn about our communication methods regarding last minute program cancellations, late pick up fees, & more in the after school policies page.

Every class in every program needs a PTSA member chaperone who is an LWSD-approved chaperone. Each program will either have a dedicated chaperone or parents will take turns and sign-up to chaperone. If you would like to be the dedicated chaperone for a program in which your child is enrolled in exchange for a tuition refund*, contact us at programs@rosaparksptsa.org
*You will receive confirmation from VP Programs if you are selected as the dedicated chaperone. Tuition refund will be given after program ends and chaperoning duties have concluded. Available for select programs only. Without chaperones, a program will be cancelled.

All chaperones need to be PTSA members and approved LWSD Volunteers. Please submit your application or renewal application for volunteering as soon as possible so you may be approved before chaperoning. Volunteering in LWSD page on the LWSD website.
