These classes will work on basic to intermediate acting and performance skills.  Topics covered include voice and diction for the stage, monologue work, duet acting skills, character development and back story, and improvisational skills.  Material worked on in class will be at the age and skill level of each student, but will work to stretch each of them beyond their abilities to help them grow as young artists. These classes are for students that want to experience or improve their public speaking, presentation, and acting skills.  The monologues and scenes will all be from the published work “How to Eat Like a Child….And Other Lessons on Not Becoming a Grown Up”, and will end with a performance of what they have worked on and are ready to present.

Code and Web-Design

This club has two segments-- coding and web-designing. If your student wants to be a programmer, designer, web-developer, and gets excited about creating games and animations and publishing websites, this course is ideal.

For coding lessons, we will use the MIT-developed platform—Scratch, which is carefully designed to cater to the understanding and aptitude of young kids.

Scratch provides a fun and innovative way for kids to put their creativity and imagination into concrete visual delights on computer screens. As the kids design and code their own games and animations, they learn logical thinking, mathematical skills and coding concepts of sequencing, loops, conditional statements, variables, function calls and much more.

In web-design segment, students will learn the web-design fundamentals including design basics, HTML, CSS, images, typography, color, sketch, planning and building. Students will get hands-on experience on how to create, structure and publish their own web-pages, and get introduced to content management tools (CMS) such as WordPress.

  • Please ensure that you read the complete Program Information page for requirements and the Polices and Requirements document that you agree to by registering your child for each program. Additionally, registration and payment will be completely through our PTSA website this time.
