How do I prepare for my audition?

  • Check your schedule with the rehearsal schedule on this site to make sure you won’t have conflicts.

PLEASE NOTE:  rehearsals will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 – 5 PM.  If your soccer practice begins at 5 PM, you will need to be late to soccer or make the choice not to audition for the play. Please note we will hold rehearsals during conference week, if you conference is scheduled during rehearsal you will leave quietly and then return when your conference is over. The rehearsal time will be from 11:30-1:30. We need actors who are committed to attending all needed rehearsals.  Our rehearsing time is very short and tight; we need everyone to be there unless they are sick.

  • Read the Character List section on this site . Then click on audition central to look at suggested lines and songs. Think about your acting skills and which characters you might enjoy being.
  • Prepare for you audition. Remember a monologue is only lines said by the character you want to be. I will not have the other lines being read.
  • Ensemble (except Lionesses): Audition in groups of 4-5. Sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and dance to Hakuna Matata.
  • Lionesses: Sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and dance to Haknna Matata and the Lioness Hunt.
  • For all other listed characters including Rafiki, you will be asked to do the following: 30 second monologue. You can write your own or use the lines provided at the website listed below. (Take out the other lines of the characters you are not auditioning for so you end up only saying your characters lines. If you don’t have 30 seconds feel free to add lines.) We are looking for kids who can portray their characters personality. Sing 30 seconds of a song of your choice. Dance to Hakuna Matata.
  • Fill out the audition form and parent commitment form (find it on this site) and turn it in to Mrs. Deason’s Blue Mailbox located next to the bulletin board in the commons (it will be marked with a sign) by Monday, November 27th , 2017 .  PLEASE NOTE:  the audition form is turned in before the audition day.  NO late paperwork will be accepted after November 27th.
  • Come to your audition Tuesday, November 28th ready to say your monologue in character and be prepared for free style dancing for 30 seconds.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Every role is an important role to help give details and tell the story. If you child does not receive a speaking role it does not mean the role is less. Also, I will not add lines for students unless I determine at auditions that a speaking role is needed. Please do not ask me to add lines. There are many things for students to learn during rehearsals including blocking, songs, dancing, and many more.

When will I know if I got a part?

Offer letters will be passed out by Wednesday, November 29th  Acceptance letters must be turned in by Tuesday, December 5th .

There will be a cast meeting Thursday, December 14th from 3 – 3:30PM in the theater.   We will pass out folders & scripts. If you are leaving for vacation before our cast meeting please let Mrs. Deason know ahead of time so she can get you your materials to be studying during winter break.
